Hong Kong residents to pay up to 7 per cent more for power from January

Electricity bills in Hong Kong will increase by as much as 7 per cent beginning on January 1, the city’s two power companies have revealed.The rate rises were widely expected with fuel costs increasing globally and natural gas, now the city’s main power generation source, jumping in price by 65 per cent in the first half of the year.“As international fuel prices have increased sharply, many other cities have also had to increase their power tariffs,” Secretary for the Environment Wong Kam-sing…
